Our Approach to Failure-to-Launch Treatment
We offer two levels of care—PHP and IOP—so students can gain traction while still attending classes, working part-time, or living at home.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for Failure to Launch
Our most structured daytime option, PHP is ideal for students whose functional impairment requires daily therapeutic support without inpatient admission.
PHP includes:
- Comprehensive biopsychosocial & vocational assessment
- 5 days per week, 4–6 hours per day of programming
- Evidence-based therapies (CBT, ACT, DBT) focused on motivation & self-efficacy
- Medication management when appropriate
- Executive-function coaching (time management, organization, goal-setting)
- Vocational & academic support (career exploration, résumé building, study skills)
- Weekly progress reviews with collaborative plan updates
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for Failure to Launch
A flexible option for young adults and students who need more structure than weekly therapy but can handle some responsibilities independently.
IOP features:
- 3–5 days per week with afternoon & evening tracks
- Group and individual therapy targeting avoidance, perfectionism, and social anxiety
- Life-skills workshops (budgeting, meal planning, apartment hunting)
- Career & academic mentoring plus accountability groups
- Support for co-occurring issues such as anxiety, mild depression, or substance use
- Regular family check-ins and optional parent coaching
Both programs are offered in person at our Westwood campus in Los Angeles. IOP services are also offered virtually to young adults across the country.
