Our Mission & Philosophy
A Unique Approach to Mental Health
Our mission at The Haven? To help young adults heal, thrive, and succeed—without sacrificing who they are or where they’re going.
For many young people, anxiety, depression, trauma, or substance use can quietly derail progress. That’s where we come in.
Our programs are designed to address these challenges with proven methods, in a way that relates to young people (ages 18-30).
Youth-Centered, Context-Aware Care
We understand what it means to be 19, or 22, or 25 and struggling to hold it together. Our care is tailored to the pressures, transitions, and identity-building of emerging adulthood.
Evidence-Based, Holistic Support
We use leading therapies like DBT, ACT, CBT, and Motivational Interviewing—while integrating mindfulness, experiential practices, and whole-person wellness.
Family Support & Involvement
We don’t just treat the individual—we engage the family system, providing guidance and structure that strengthens long-term outcomes.
Custom, Individualized Treatment
Every client receives a comprehensive assessment and a plan tailored to their needs. As they grow, so does their treatment—updated continuously to reflect real-time progress.
Empowerment Through Skill Building
From emotional regulation to communication to executive functioning, we equip young adults with real-life tools to manage challenges and relationships with confidence.
Integration with School or Work Life
Healing shouldn’t mean disappearing. Our outpatient design lets clients stay active in their college or personal journey while receiving structured, clinically sound support.
Most importantly, peer connection is at the heart of our model. This isn’t treatment from a pedestal. It’s support from people who get it and who’ve been there.
Step 1: Assessment
At The Haven we welcome each client and their unique background and needs. Our experienced clinicians conduct a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment on each client at admission and work with our Clinical Director to determine the appropriate level of need and focus for treatment. Our clinicians then work with each client to structure the appropriate goals for treatment and create a schedule to address the identified needs and goals. We utilize clinical assessments regularly throughout treatment to evaluate a client’s progress against those goals and modify treatment as necessary.
Step 2: Treatment That Fits Real Life
One of the first things we do when a prospective client reaches out to The Haven is to discuss their schedule and how we can create a treatment plan that accommodates their academic, family, or work demands. Given our clients’ busy schedules, our outpatient levels of care allow treatment that integrates into life, rather than putting everything on pause.
Step 3: Aftercare Planning
We don’t just hand graduates a pamphlet and a polite “good luck.” We work with clients to develop a phased planned that continues to meet the demands of everyday life, so that they can stay engaged in recovery without it seeming like a burden. We know this is proven to improve outcomes.
Step 4: Check-ins And Alumni Support
While clients are in treatment, we introduce them to a variety of peer support groups and networks that will survive far longer than their time in treatment. Whether it’s 12-step meetings or alumni events, we ensure that our clients will have a support network in their corner. We know life happens, so we strongly believe in the importance of having a community to fall back on if times get tough. Strength in numbers is a proven method of success at The Haven.
